What is important to me

I want someone to ask me, “What’s important to you?”
I would tell them that truth is important to me,
though I don’t always tell the truth;
and compassion is important to me,
even so, I am not always compassionate;
moreover, forgiveness is important to me,
still I do not always forgive;
best of all, you are important to me,
yet I don’t always take time out for you;
ideally God is important to me,
but I don’t always believe there is one;
and still I pray.
